Any honest and respectable product must above all keep its promises. A promotional pen is both a writing instrument and a means of communication: as such it must write well and communicate your brand values effectively.
Choosing a Prodir pen means entrusting your company’s image to a product with superb writing quality. Because for us refills are not a luxury, but are part and parcel of respecting a commitment.
As a means of communication our pens have qualities that enable them to adapt to the needs of any brand: they are original, reliable, sophisticated and extremely flexible for personalisation. This latter feature means that they can adapt perfectly to the message for which they are the ambassadors.
Prodir has a specialised graphics team that is constantly working towards this goal: to create the personalised pen that is just right for your communication needs. And today we want to share with you some practical tips on how to create the perfect promotional tool.
- Identify the shapes that best personify your brand’s identity
Relying solely on personal taste is the most typical mistake. It is better to reflect on the brand’s identity, identify its key values and carefully choose the design that can represent them credibly. With the new Prodir Configurator you can choose from the classic, timeless shapes of the DS range or the innovative, sculptural QS models.
2. Choose a colour that emphasises your logo
The choice of the pen’s basic colour is of prime importance. It need not be the same colour as the logo; in fact ideally, in order to create an interesting contrast, it is better to choose a neutral shade that highlights the brand. In an interview with Laura Bazzali, Prodir’s Product Manager, it was revealed that a certain kind of sobriety can prove more convincing than a forceful approach. We call it the “new effortlessness”, a serious, measured way of communicating that denotes confidence and determination. It is precisely on the basis of this principle that we recommend selecting just a few shades; by doing so you will be giving greater importance to your chosen colours.
3. Create a contrast
Colour contrasts (cold-hot, light-dark, light-heavy, etc.) have been theorised for centuries in the arts world and are used to enhance a particular perception. These theories are based on the relativity of human perception. For example, we know that we recognise more easily that a colour is light if we compare it with a darker shade. Similarly, a pen that is light in colour will appear even brighter when contrasted with a dark element.
4. Your logo on the pen: “Quiet is the new loud”
In 1991 the Kings Of Convenience recorded their debut album. It was charmingly simple, almost hypnotic, which was the result of a successful blend of acoustic arrangements and a soothing voice. It was called “Quiet is the new loud” and is still considered an icon in the history of indie-pop (you have almost certainly already heard these notes). In a music scene dominated by electronic synthesisers and distortion, its clear, acoustic sound attracted the attention of audiences and critics alike.
Prodir is synonymous with minimalism; we produce pens that communicate through their own intrinsic features: design, functionality, reliability, longevity. It is the brand on the clip that benefits from this and there is no need to print it in large letters in order to highlight it. On the contrary: a harmonious whole will have a more pleasing and attractive effect.
5. Choose the refill that best fits the writer’s needs
At Prodir we know just how crucial the refill is to a pen’s success as a promotional tool, where the writing instrument is assigned a specific communication task. In this field it is evident that the more the pen proves to be reliable for its primary purpose, the more credible is the message it carries.
The refills for our pens have always been made for us by our sister company Premec that is a world leader in the production of writing systems. You would be hard pressed to find a better refill.
We have five writing systems for each of our pens, to satisfy the most diverse requirements:
Floating Ball® – This provides a clean, smooth stroke and great writing autonomy. It is supplied as standard on every Prodir pen. On request it is also available with a 1.4mm tip for a thicker stroke and even greater smoothness, or in the version with a larger metal reservoir, for superior durability and that extra touch of class.
TechGlide® – Our premium refill, with low viscosity ink and a metal reservoir. TechGlide® refills are the ultimate in smoothness and stroke precision.
Gel SuperDry® – A writing system that combines the typical smoothness of gel with ink drying times similar to traditional ballpoint pens.
Gel Dark Blue – The most classic of gel refills: smooth, regular and intense in colour.
Gel Pigmented – Our gel refill with an ultra-thin tip and ink that remains readable even when in contact with water. Its fine, precise strokes make it particularly suited to Asian writing needs.
